Springfield's Favorite Family Makes Its Debut in Psyonix's Hit Game: Unfortunately Not the Vehicle Fans Are Hoping For

We already knew that the iconic animated series was collaborating with Epic Games' battle royale, but that's not the only place where fans can experience the world of Springfield. The long-running series is also making its way to Rocket League, bringing along an vehicle customization option that will also be usable in Fortnite. However, if gamers will truly desire to use it is a different matter, as fans have their hearts set on just one Simpsons car the community is eager to drive, and this isn't it.

What Fans Really Want

While many gamers would absolutely enjoy to face off behind the wheel of Homer's custom creation—the notoriously impractical automobile Homer designed himself in the 1991 episode "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?"—regrettably, that isn't what's being offered. We aren't even getting the massive SUV, the heavy-duty truck featured in the tenth season. Instead, fans will obtain the family's standard beat-up sedan, which they've been driving since 1989. Though this specific vehicle has accumulated plenty of miles, it stands as an recognizable symbol of the show. For those who analyze Rocket League vehicle dimensions, the Simpson family car uses the same hitbox as the Dominus.

And it's not the sole customization item from the show coming to the game. This limited-time event will additionally feature a set of objectives to earn more goodies, all of which are Simpsons-themed. According to a press release, the challenges will task players to "get as many centers and clears as there are the show's years on air, collect boost pickups as if your GPS is set to the Simpson house, and travel a specific distance worthy of picking up the perfect donuts!"

While the full lineup of challenge rewards isn't yet revealed, here is what has been confirmed up to this point:

  • Blinky antenna topper
  • Homer's Hedges player banner
  • Waste wheels
  • 20,000 experience points for each challenge

Based on promotional images is a reliable guide, it seems fans will also receive wheels featuring a TV displaying the show's opening credits, Kang and Kodos topper, a frosted doughnut trail, and rocket boosts inspired by smoldering rubber and Krusty Burger.
