Battlefield 6 Players Concur: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 garnered widespread acclaim, notably for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, simultaneous player numbers peaked at nearly 750,000. However, despite its popularity, a growing number of players are protesting against several of the title's toughest challenges, which are required to access certain guns.

Players have started resorting to tailored sessions made via the custom game tool to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how arduous these challenges have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Tasks

Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the periodically changed day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four classes of assignments, but although many merely grant outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of acquiring a dozen out of forty-one primary weapons present in the game.

Some of these restricted firearms might eventually make their appearance on lists of the best guns in Battlefield 6.

Community Frustration via Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
  • Inflict 10,000 hipfire damage with LMGs

"This challenge is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a quote that summarizes just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many advantages in battle as it did in previous games. It only tallies as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is highly imprecise and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you prefer to be. The same user also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that task would be considerably more fitting to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

Another Reddit user brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, now in the sniper rifle category to unlock the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills over 200m with marksman guns

This is tough enough by itself, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at those extended distances.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine levels in the game currently, it restricts you to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and maybe an additional option at a push if you want to snipe from over 200m away.

The Bypass

However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.

But when completing the missions in a normal session seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an unorthodox manner that harms both you and your squad, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Future Adjustments

It should not be shocking if several of these tasks are made easier in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.

At the moment, the player base continues to express their views on these challenging in-game tasks, expecting a more balanced overall gameplay in future updates.
